Branding Yoga Free Essays

Marketing Management Professor: Dr. Todd Arnold Student: Rodrigo Jesus Ramirez Martagon Bachelor of Business Administration Case: Branding Yoga 10/22/2012 Yoga in 2008 just in America has become a 5. 7 billion business (Yoga in America, 2008) and had almost 16 million people were practitioners of yoga, (Yoga Journal, 2008). We will write a custom essay sample on Branding Yoga or any similar topic only for you Order Now Nowadays there are more than 22 million people practicing yoga (United Stated Yoga Federation, 2012). Gender of US yoga practitioners are 72. 2% Female and 27. 8% Male. 44% Percentage of U. S. yoga practitioners with household income of more than $75,000; 24% earn more than $100,000. The Age of U. S. yoga practitioners are 40. 6%: 18 – 34 years of age, 41. 0%: 35-54 years of age and 18. 4%: Over 55 years of age (Namasta, 2012). Bikram Choudhury is an Indian yoga guru and he is the founder of Bikram Yoga. Bikram Yoga is a 26 postures type of Hatha yoga done in a hot (105 degrees Fahrenheit or greater) environment. Bikram yoga simplified the techniques of traditional yoga and became popular in the early 1970s. Bikram patented the 26 postures under the U. S. copyright. In 2006 he had more than 1650 Yoga Studios around the world. He is the person who owns the biggest gyms in America. (Bikram Yoga College, 2012) ] In the other hand there is a former model named Tara Stiles, she start practicing just for the relax feeling and made her first YouTube videos for a request of his model job in Ford Modeling Agency. After leaving the modeling agency, she decided to make her own yoga classes so, she make more videos to promote her. She also wrote for a couple of blogs (Women’s Health and The Huffington). She became popular because she was very straightforward and good looking; and more important, she made the yoga lessons simple and without the Sanskrit words for the poses or chant in her classes. But beside her success she does not think in patent her class’s style. [ (IMDb, 2012) ] The Hindu American Foundation is a group is an advocacy group providing a progressive Hindu American voice. The Foundation interacts with and educates leaders in public policy, academia, media, and the public at large about Hinduism and global issues concerning Hindus, such as religious liberty, the misportrayal of Hinduism, hate speech, hate crimes, and human rights. By promoting the Hindu and American ideals of understanding, tolerance and pluralism, HAF stands firmly against hate, discrimination, defamation and terror (Hindu American Foundation, 212). The Hindu American Foundation were concerned about the yoga’s roots and all that the yoga carries. Nowadays the three, Bikram Choudhury, Tara Styles and Hindu American Foundation, are the most relevant people/organizations in America to think in making the yoga a whole brand. But first is important to be sure which are the differences that make every one of them different from the other (strengths and weaknesses). | Strength | Weakness| Bikram Choudhury| 1st big school in America| to strict schedule | Â  | more than 1600 schools in all around the world| not for every one (to hot temperature)| Â  | patented method| to long classes| | recognition among yoga’s community| most people think is for older people| Â  | many products of their own| Â  | Tara Styles| easiest teaching style among all the other classes| lack of branding in their classes| Â  | the faster way to do yoga| She is not interested in patenting or registering her classes| Â  | no religion or other similar stuff in her classes| she does not have more yoga studios around the US| Â  | On the internet for free| Â  | Hindu American Foundation| recognition of have the most ancient knowledge| they don’t own a brand for yoga classes| | there is no person to be their face of yoga | They want that people be aware of the Hindu roots of yoga| So to be a new competitor is important to be aware that you can take advantage of what they have already done or what they are still missing. The yoga industry is like many others out there, I can relate yoga with soccer because before they had FIFA they played with the rules of their preference and no one really knew how to play around the world the same sport even the ore of the sport was the same: have fun and score goals. So when FIFA is created, they put together all the people who wanted to play soccer and develop rules. Although there were people who does not liked the soccer, so they created the rugby. With yoga is the same just that they have more streams. This entire people try to achieve a common result, health in the path of yoga. So this is simi lar to the case whit Bikram, Tara and the Hindu American Foundation and they can get together for the common bases or they can do yoga as now. The strategies they already develop can be taken by local business finding what is going to work for specific a market. In my case, I decided to work with a local business call Red Earth Yoga Center. They already work with a target market, people who studies or works in OSU, offering for them special prices. They also try to please their customers with different kinds of classes (hot yoga, beginning yoga, beginning and beyond, among others) and have programs for High and junior high schools. They cannot use Groupon because there is none service in Stillwater. They can choose between being part of a bigger organization (Bikram’s Yoga or Department of Ayush) or stay the way that they are right now. I highly recommend stay the way that they are right now because there are none companies who are in the same situation (being in a town which lives for a university) who can stand or adapt his franchise to that specific panorama, and the most probably thing to happened is to change his procedure to the franchisor’s procedure and lose the core of the business that they already own. They can take advantage of what is already work or does not work out for the successful business, like yoga with less heat, and shorter classes. They can sell merchandise from different yoga brands, and use the Easy Americanized style of Tara Stiles among other strategies. Bibliography Bikram Yoga College. (2012). About Bikram Yoga. Samuel Taylor Coleridge, to those who know and und Essay Example For Students

Samuel Taylor Coleridge, to those who know and und Essay erstand his poems well, exists in three modes, as Philosopher, Poet, Friend. If the truth were told, we should all be obliged to admit that the Philosopher escapes us. It is the opinion of many that Coleridge as Poet is almost equally an evanescent shadow; and though the many are in this quite mistaken, they have some excuse for thinking thus, because his fulfillment falls far short of his promise. Due to Coleridges complex styles of writing, the concept and meaning of his poems can be taken in more ways than one and are often criticized by the individual reader, but the true meaning only lies inside his head. The failure to appreciate how extremely great the fulfillment exists, the causes of this injustice to Coleridge the Poet are the splendor of the three poems of his which everybody knows and admires, and also the habit of regarding him as a mere satellite of Wordsworth, or at least as Wordsworths weaker brother. These are his Poems of Friendship. They cannot be even vaguely understood unless the reader knows what persons Coleridge has in mind. They are, for the most part, poems in which reference is made with fine particularity to certain places. They were composed as the expression of feelings which were occasioned by quite definite events. Between the lines, when we know their meaning, we catch glimpses of those delightful people who formed the golden inner circle of his friends in the days of his young manhood. They may all be termed, as Coleridge himself names one or two of them, Conversation Poems, for even when they are soliloquies the sociable man who wrote them could not even think without supposing a listener. They require and reward considerable knowledge of his life and especially the life of his heart. This is not so certainly the case with his three famous Mystery Poems, in which the spellbound reader sees visions and hears music which float in from a magic realm and float out again into unfathomable space. Their perfection not of this world nor founded on history of circumstances. No knowledge of their origin or mechanism can increase their beauty or enrich their charm. To attempt to account for them, to write footnotes about them, if it were hoped thereby to make them more powerful in their effect upon the imagination, would be ridiculous and pedantic, however fruitful of knowledge and interest the exercise might be. While the Philosopher has wandered away into a vague limbo of unfinished projects and the Poet of Cristabel and its companion stars can only gaze in mute wonder upon the constellation he fixed in the heavens, the Poet of the Friendly Pieces lingers among us and can be questioned. We owe it to him and to ourselves to appreciate them. It is unfair to his genius that he should be represented in most anthologies of English verse only be the Mystery Poems, and that those who read the Poems of Friendship should be generally be ignorant of their meaning. It is unfair to ourselves that we should refuse the companionship of the most open-hearted of men, a generous spirit, willing to reveal to us the riches of his mind, a man whom all can understand and no one can help loving. There is not so much kindness, humor, wisdom, and frankness offered to most of us in the ordinary intercourse of life that we can afford to decline the outstretched hand of Coleridge. Poetry draws mankind together, break s down barriers, relieves loneliness, shows us ourselves in others and others in ourselves. It is the friendly art. It ignores time and space. National, racial, and secular differences fall at its touch, which is the touch of kinship, and when we feel this we laugh shamefacedly at our pretensions, timiditys, and reserves. Everything in antiquity is antiquated except its art and especially its poetry. That is scarcely less fresh than when it fell first from living lips. The religion of the ancients is to us superstition, their science childishness, but their poetry is as valid and vital as our own. It is the nature of all great poetry to open and bring together the hearts of men. And few poets have so generously given themselves out to us as Coleridge. The gift is rare and wonderful because he was a very good man, even more that because of his marvelous mind. When he was said to be good, he was said to be loving. The compositions which are denominated as the Poems of Friendship or Co nversation Poems are The Eolian Harp, Reflections on having left a Place of Retirement, This Lime-Tree Bower my Prison, Frost at Midnight, Fears in Solitude, and The Nightingale. The list is not complete; there are shorter pieces which might be added; but these are the most substantial and the best. Imporant Decisions In Huck Finn EssayDue to Coleridges complex styles of writing, the concept and meaning of his poems can be taken in more ways that one and are often criticized by the individual reader, but the true meaning only lies inside his head. It is the nature of all great poetry to open and bring together the hearts of men. Coleridges poetry is one of friendship with a loving behavior, and that is the reason why people are attracted to his literature.

John Dalton Essays - Fellows Of The Royal Society, John Dalton

John Dalton John Dalton was born on September 6, 1766, in Eaglesfield, England. He was the son of a weaver and received his early education from his father also at a Quaker school in his hometown, where he began teaching at the age of twelve. In 1781 he moved to Kendal, where he conducted a school with his cousin and older brother. He moved to Manchester in 1793, and lived there the rest of his life as a teacher, fist at New College and later as a tutor. He died on July 27, 1844. Dalton began a series of meteorological observations in 1787, that he continued for fifty-seven years. Altogether in the time he spent it added up to 200,000 observations and measurements on the weather in the Manchester region. His interest in meteorology led him to study a variety of phenomena as well as the instruments used to measure them. He was the first to prove the validity of the concept that the rain is precipitated by a decrease in temperature. Not by a change in temperature. His first work, ?Meteorological Observations and Essays?(1793), attracted little attention. In the next year he presented a paper on color blindness to the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society. Dalton himself suffered from color blindness. This paper was the earliest description of vision, known as ?Daltonism.?

Uses of Dispose

Uses of Dispose Uses of Dispose Uses of Dispose By Maeve Maddox Ed Buckner writes: In my work, people often use the word dispose when referring to solid waste. Â  My issue is that many people want to append the preposition of to the word dispose as in, the company disposed of the hazardous waste. This does not seem correct to me, yet I have had wordsmiths in the office correct my writing to include disposed of. One would not say transported of the waste or stored of the waste, yet people insist upon saying disposed of the waste. Am I wrong here or is it a case of an error becoming the standard through constant incorrect use? The verb dispose can be used either transitively or intransitively. When used transitively, it does not take a preposition. Used intransitively, it often does. As an transitive verb (a verb that governs an object), dispose can mean to place, to put away: The company disposed the waste in drums placed in several buildings. The child disposed the toy soldiers about the carpet and under the table. As an intransitive verb dispose can take a preposition. to dispose with: put into a settled state I want to dispose with this lawsuit once and for all. to dispose of: get rid of We hired Acme Garbage to dispose of our solid waste Dispose can also be used intransitively without a preposition as in the proverb Man proposes; God disposes. When the meaning is to get rid of, dispose needs the of. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Get a subscription and start receiving our writing tips and exercises daily! Obvious Marketing Moves I was Totally Missing on LinkedIn and Mobile!

Obvious Marketing Moves I was Totally Missing on LinkedIn and Mobile! Squeeze Pack Solutions While eating out of a nut butter squeeze pack a few weeks ago, I reached the point where I could not squeeze out any more- but I knew there was still plenty of almond butter stuck to the inside walls of the package. It didn’t take me long to figure out that I could cut the package open to extract the remaining goo. It was messy, but it worked. Shortly thereafter, I reached the end of a toothpaste tube and thought, â€Å"I wonder if there’s toothpaste stuck to the insides of this packaging too?† I cut open the tube and retrieved three brushings worth of paste. It took me what†¦ 40 years? to even notice this problem. The solution was easy. Blinding Flashes of the Obvious We all have moments where something happens, or someone makes a suggestion to us, and a light bulb goes off. Wow! That makes total sense! How did I not think of that? It was right in front of my face. How have I not done that already? My ActionCOACH coaches call these sudden revelations â€Å"Blinding Flashes of the Obvious.† When one of these ideas arises, I am surprised by it because I probably knew somewhere deep inside that I needed to do this thing, but it hadn’t risen to the surface as a priority. After an initial, â€Å"What have I been thinking?!† I get into action. This past week, I attended The National Resume Writers’ Association annual conference, where I garnered several â€Å"blinding flashes of the obvious† from conversations I had with my colleagues. Here are my top two: 1. Create more than one LinkedIn profile Experience entry for my â€Å"job† at The Essay Expert. You’d think that as a LinkedIn expert I would have maximized my LinkedIn SEO already. I tell other people all the time that if they held more than one position at a company, they should create more than one entry in order to include more keywords. But was I following this advice myself? Nope. I was like the proverbial overweight, cigarette-smoking doctor. Yikes. At The NRWA conference, a fellow resume writer showed me her LinkedIn profile to ask my opinion. She had eight (eight!!) entries for her current business, and she had stuffed keywords into every one. While I did not recommend that she use this tactic, and while I believe that â€Å"keyword stuffing† can backfire, I realized that with only one entry for my role in my business, I was missing out on a big opportunity to put more keywords into my own LinkedIn profile. As of Sunday night, I have created separate sections in my profile for my position as an Executive Resume Writer, Executive LinkedIn Profile Writer, and College Admissions Essay Consultant. I am in disbelief that for the past eight years, I had been cramming all these roles into one LinkedIn Experience entry. I am curious to see what happens with my profile views and inquiries for business now that I have followed my own advice! 2. Get texting capabilities to and from my business phone line. For at least two years, texting has been the most popular form of communication used in this country. It would seem obvious that people would want to send texts to my business number. In fact, I’m sure many people have sent texts to my business number, thinking they were reaching me. Until yesterday, those texts were going directly to nowhere. Not only that, but when I wanted to send a text to a client, I had to do it through my personal cell phone. I did not like texting clients because then they would call me on my personal cell phone number, and I much prefer to keep that number, well, personal. I was avoiding texting because of this issue, despite the fact that my clients probably would have loved to text me. Was I thinking of the most obvious solution to this problem? No. I was not prioritizing the issue, despite the fact that 95% of texts are read within 3 minutes, while only 12% of emails are opened. Enabling text was a no-brainer, and I apparently had no brain. It took me until last week’s conference, at the suggestion of my brilliant colleague Robin Schlinger, to bite the bullet and enable texting capabilities on my business line. She mentioned that several executive clients had texted her with inquiries for her services, and that was enough to convince me to get on the texting bandwagon! Now clients will be able to reach out to me via their preferred mode of communication, whether that is phone, email, or †¦ text!! And I can easily send texts without revealing my personal number. On a related note, I needed a better way to make calls from my cell phone that appeared to be coming from my business number. Purchasing texting capabilities led me to download the eVoice app, which solved that problem too. I had been wanting that kind of solution for years- getting the app was another blinding flash of the obvious! In order to have the types of revelations I’ve been describing, we have to be paying attention, listening for good ideas (they could appear at any moment), and willing to take new action. Are you ready? Are there nagging problems in your life that you have been ignoring, not even giving them the time of day? Maybe they are more important than you think, and easier to fix than you think. I challenge you to have a â€Å"blinding flash of the obvious† this week, and share below what it is!

WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS OF THE VIEW THAT WE ARE LIVING IN Essay

WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESS OF THE VIEW THAT WE ARE LIVING IN A GLOBALISED WORLD - Essay Example nomies into an international economy through trade, capital flows, migration, spread of technology and many other factors contributing to it (Bhagwati, 2004). Globalisation is usually recognized as being caused by a combination of economic, socio-cultural, technological, political and biological factors. It can also refer to the dissemination of ideas, languages or popular culture between nations (Croucher, 2004). Living in a globalised world has its share of negative effects on the average citizen, and globalisation has been one of the most hotly-debated issues in international economics in the past years. One of the causes for this opposition to globalisation is the concern that globalisation has increased inequality and environmental degradation (Hopkins, 2004). Fears for inequality arise in situations in which companies take advantage of cheap labour force in backward countries and use employees for their own needs without taking care of their working conditions. Also, as a result of the industrial nature of factories and that are responsible for manufacturing goods, the environment suffers damages in its land, in bodies of water (including rivers, lakes, oceans, seas) and in the air as well (as poisonous materials are released to the air). Poorer countries suffer more disadvantages because of globalisation. As some countries try to save their national markets, they sometimes subsidise their main export, which is agricultural goods. This lowers the poor farmers crop prices in the poor countries compared to what it would have been if countries had not subsidised their goods. (Hurst, n.d) One other negative effect of globalisation in the economic field is the increase in child labour. The conditions in the poorer countries of the world along with the "enticements" offered by large corporations in them cause even children to go to work in order to help support their families. These children often work in sweatshops and in terrible conditions. The increases in

Comparing Three Specific Works of Art Research Paper

Comparing Three Specific Works of Art - Research Paper Example During the tenure, the animal symbolism was created and this made him be viewed as one of the foundation artists for that genre. During the transformation period, Matisse has entangled it and this leads to the birth of the great artist (Walther, 2003). In the initial early stages, artists were involved in the painting of still images, as well as tutorial landscapes that lacked the influence of the wild beast. Moreover, Henri Matisse was accredited for the paintings, as well as the cutouts often seen as real pictures independent of any constructed activities. As such, he was the first artist to be accredited for the works involving ornately- decorated portraits. For instance, the dance stood as an example of the splendid masterpieces that were created by Henri Matisse in his lifetime (Walther, 2003). Furthermore, Henri Matisse produced close to 50 bronze sculptures, which made him stand out as one of the great sculpture of that time (Kobbi, 1990). Indeed he was overheard admitting tha t his desire for bronze originated from David’s work. As widely noted traveling formed a large factor for the young and impressionable artist (Kobbi, 1990). It cannot be negated that Henri Matisse wanted to be a lawyer during the early stage of his career. As such his role was directed by the constant dreams emerging out as a great lawyer. However, with the discovery of an artistic stroke, the schooling life came to an end (Kobbi, 1990). It is important to note that, he became more influential in 1905. During this period, Henri Matisse worked with an artistic friend in color France. Following that, his color stroke emerged out which eventually formed the basis for open window works. Later on, the view through the common window stood out as the most recurring theme within the work of Henri Matisse. This eventually opened the doors for great works such as the flowerpot’s’ and an open window. Lastly, at the age of 25 Matisse embraced patterns and incorporated them in some of his works such as the Red studio.
